The impact of phones in the classroom

If you're a teacher or parent here's what you should know about the impact of mobile phones on school students...

KEY INSIGHT...

Schools could significantly close the achievement gap by prohibiting mobile phone use in schools.

- Student test scores improve by 6.4%, on average, following a ban on mobile phones

- There are no significant gains in student performance if a ban is not widely complied with

- Students in the lowest quartile of prior achievement improve their test scores by 14.2% on average

- Students in the top quartile are neither positively nor negatively affected by a phone ban

IN RESPONSE...

@Building20 is working with senior school students, parents, and teachers to develop a Focus Program that is based on our workplace Productivity Program.

Instead of punitive bans, we want to work with students, parents, teachers, and school administrators to identify the impact of distractions and co-design evidence-based practical solutions that improve the student experience and outcomes.
